The living foundation of healthy soil.
100% red wiggler worm castings — nature's true plant food
Whether you're reviving a vegetable garden, encouraging better blooms in your landscape, or giving newly transplanted plants a strong start, Fed N Happy worm castings help build the healthy soil your plants need to thrive.

Fed right. Cured slow. Nothing added.
Worm castings are the end result of a worm's digestive system. What the worms eat, and how long the castings cure, decides what ends up in your soil. Ours are 100% red wiggler worm castings, with no fillers or added chemicals.
What our worms eat
Aged manure (turned and brought to 145°F three separate times), aged untreated wood chips, basalt rock dust, and spent Fed N Happy Worm Extract.
Why it matters: clean, mineral-rich feedstockCured 18+ months
Our castings are held at a steady 70% moisture for more than 18 months, so the beneficial biology has time to build before the castings ever leave the farm.
Why it matters: a fully mature, biologically active productRaised & screened in the Midwest
Raised and screened on our farms in Hutchinson, KS and Murray, IA, in four screen sizes from Fine to 1/4" to suit how you grow.
Why it matters: a consistent texture for your useThey call it "black gold" for a reason.
Deep, dark brown and rich in beneficial microbes and naturally occurring minerals, worm castings feed the soil that feeds your plants. Their nutrients are bioavailable, so plants can readily take them up.
Adds living biology
Beneficial bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes that keep cycling nutrients long after you apply.
Improves soil structure
Better aeration and drainage, so roots grow deeper.
Holds water
Improves moisture retention, especially in sandy and depleted soils.
Feeds gently
Naturally occurring nutrients plants can use without the risk of burn.
From houseplants to whole farms.
Backyard gardeners, landscapers, houseplant lovers, urban growers, hydroponic and greenhouse operations, and farms all use Fed N Happy castings for the same reason: healthy soil grows healthy plants.
In the garden
Castings have the texture of fine garden compost or coffee grounds and a rich, earthy smell. Use them as a base for new beds, a top dressing for established plants, or a tea for a quick biological boost.
- Better seed germination and stronger starts
- Healthier root systems and more vigorous growth
- Better blooms, fruits, and vegetables
- Gentle enough that it won't cause nutrient or pH burn
On the farm & in the greenhouse
Castings build the biology that makes the rest of your program work harder. What that means for you:
- Better performance from the fertilizer you already use
- Improved soil structure and aggregation
- More efficient nutrient cycling
- Better water infiltration and retention
- Less reliance on synthetic inputs over time
"Healthy soil grows healthy plants. Castings help you get there."
A little goes a long way.
- Mix into new garden beds as a foundation
- Top-dress established plants, beds, and containers
- Blend into seed-starting and potting mixes

Worm castings questions, answered
What are worm castings?
Worm castings are the end result of a worm's digestive system. High-quality castings have the texture of fine garden compost or coffee grounds and a rich, earthy smell. Ours are 100% red wiggler worm castings, with no fillers or added chemicals.
Why are worm castings called "black gold"?
For their deep, dark brown color and their value to the soil. Castings are rich in beneficial microbes and naturally occurring minerals, and their nutrients are in a form plants can readily use.
What's the difference between worm castings and Basecamp?
Worm castings are the foundation of every Fed N Happy product. Basecamp starts with our worm castings and adds a balanced blend of biochar and composted organic material, making it a complete soil-improvement mix. Castings on their own are a single, pure ingredient.
Which screen size should I buy?
- Fine: seed starting, houseplants, and teas or extracts
- 1/8": potting mixes, containers, raised beds, and top-dressing
- 1/4": garden beds, landscaping, and broadcast field application
- Special: custom screening for specific equipment or bulk orders
Can worm castings burn my plants?
No. Castings feed gently with naturally occurring nutrients, so they won't cause the nutrient or pH burn that many synthetic fertilizers can.
How should I store worm castings?
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Don't seal them airtight, because the product is biologically active. Use within 12 months for the best biological performance.
How is bulk shipped, and what does FOB Hutchinson mean?
FOB (Free on Board) Hutchinson means ownership and responsibility pass to you once the carrier picks up and signs for the order at our dock. From that point you own the product in transit, and any freight damage claims go through the carrier.
