Basecamp Pellets
Pelletized Biomineral Soil Amendment Made from Worm Castings
Basecamp Pellets are the same foundation as Basecamp, built for the way big operations actually spread.
Red Wiggler worm castings from Fed 'n Happy are blended with biochar and pressed into a pellet. You get the living microbes and nutrient density of our castings in a form that flows cleanly, spreads evenly, and feeds your soil over weeks instead of all at once.
When the soil works, everything above it gets easier.
What's in Basecamp Pellets
- Red Wiggler Worm Castings
- Biochar
- Pressed into a uniform pellet
What It Does
- Builds soil structure: biochar provides a stable, porous carbon framework so roots, air, and water can move freely
- Holds water & nutrients: porous carbon keeps moisture and nutrients where roots can reach them
- Boosts biological activity: gives microbes a place to live and supports the life that drives nutrient cycling
- Releases gradually: pellets break down as they're watered, feeding the soil over weeks rather than all at once
What That Means for You
- Less dust when loading and spreading
- No clumping in the bag or tote
- Even, consistent coverage across large acreage
- Steady nutrient availability instead of a one-time spike
- Soil that improves year after year
Why Farmers Use Basecamp Pellets
Most products push the plant. Basecamp builds the system. Basecamp Pellets take that same approach and make it easier to run through the equipment you already own, at the scale you already farm.
Farmers choose Basecamp Pellets for:
- Clean handling with less dust and waste
- Reliable flow through spreaders, planters, and drills
- Slow, steady nutrient release
- Long-term soil improvement
How to Use
- Pellet form: flows cleanly through broadcast spreaders, in-furrow systems, and drill seeders
- Apply by broadcast, in-furrow, or with the drill at seeding
- Works in conventional, no-till, and regenerative systems
- Compatible with most fertility programs
- Application Rate
- With Seed - 10% of seeding rate
- Broadcast - 25-300lbs per acre
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Basecamp Pellets and Basecamp?
Both start with Fed 'n Happy worm castings. Basecamp is a granular blend of worm castings, biochar, and composted organic material. Basecamp Pellets combine worm castings and biochar pressed into a pellet, so they spread with less dust, won't clump, and release nutrients gradually over several weeks.
What's the difference between Basecamp Pellets and worm castings?
Worm castings are the foundation of every Fed 'n Happy product. Basecamp Pellets add biochar, a stable, porous carbon that holds moisture and nutrients and gives microbes a place to live, and press the blend into a pellet built for large-scale application.
How much Basecamp Pellets do I apply per acre?
- With seed: 10% of your seeding rate (for example, 10 lbs of Basecamp Pellets per 100 lbs of seed)
- Broadcast: 25–300 lbs per acre
Rates vary by soil and operation. Contact us for a recommendation specific to your fields.
Will Basecamp Pellets go through my spreader, planter, or drill?
Yes. The pellets flow cleanly and don't clump, so they run through standard broadcast spreaders, in-furrow systems, and drill seeders.
How fast do the pellets break down?
Pellets soften and break down as they're watered by rain or irrigation, releasing nutrients and microbes into the soil over a period of weeks rather than all at once.
How are Basecamp Pellets shipped, and what does FOB Hutchinson mean?
You can pick up your order at our Hutchinson, KS facility, or we can arrange shipping. FOB (Free on Board) Hutchinson means ownership and responsibility pass to you as soon as the carrier picks up and signs for the order at our dock. From that point you own the product in transit, and any freight damage claims go through the carrier. Truckload quantities are available, and bulk orders can be arranged by phone or email.
