Frequently Asked Questions
How many worms are in the mix?
Naturally, the worm count and size vary by season, but we can guarantee our mix is the best start you can give your composting operation.
What's the difference between Starter Mix, Cocoons and Live Worms?
Starter Mix combines castings, cocoons and juvenile worms to start a bin or bioreactor. Cocoons are the most economical way to seed or grow a population. Live Worms are adult worms by the pound, ready to start composting right away.
Do Red Wigglers need to be refrigerated?
No. Red Wigglers do best at about 60–80°F, so room temperature is ideal. They slow down below about 50°F and start to die above about 85°F, so keep them out of direct sun and away from heaters.
How is Starter Mix shipped, and what does FOB Hutchinson mean?
You can pick up your order at our Hutchinson, KS facility, or we can arrange shipping. FOB (Free on Board) Hutchinson means ownership and responsibility pass to you once the carrier picks up and signs for the order at our dock. From that point you own the product in transit, and any freight damage claims go through the carrier.
Simple Truth
A healthy bin starts with healthy biology. Start it right, and your worms will feed your soil.
